This bacterium damages intestinal peristalsis and disrupts the process of urination, which leads to serious consequences. Successively “deactivating” all the muscles, including the respiratory muscles, causes the death of the infected person by sudden cardiac arrest or respiratory paralysis. Interestingly, it can be present in pickles. In an interview with WP abcZdrowie, Dr. Magdalena CubaƂa-Kucharska, MD, family physician, dietician certified by the Institute of Food and Nutrition in Warsaw and member of the Polish Nutrition Society, warns against this .

First of all, pickles are exposed to mold, botulinum toxin is a rarity, but if you notice a bulging lid, throw the jar away immediately, without hesitation – the expert commented.

There are molds that can be healthy, but unfortunately I have some bad news for pickle lovers. Those that appear in the form of, for example, peeling on cucumbers are harmful. It cannot be eaten or tried to save. Mold gets deep into food, so there’s no way to save a moldy pickle jar. If there is mold, everything must be thrown away, warns the doctor.
