Emilien Jacquelin has been in trouble since the start of the season and will not compete in the individual Ruhpolding on Wednesday and will be replaced by Eric Perrot.

Emilien Jacquelin left to redo his beaches in Italy. The 27-year-old biathlete has struggled since the start of the season and is currently in Val Ridanna alongside French shooting coach Patrick Favre to regain his confidence. He will therefore be absent this Wednesday at the individual (20km) of Ruhpolding in Germany. Last week, the three-time world champion had a nightmare at the Pokljuka sprint in Slovenia, finishing 64th in the sprint with five shooting errors, and fail to qualify for the next day’s chase. He was also not selected for the two mixed relays on Sunday. “It hurts afterwards, maybe it’s a blessing in disguise. Go back to basics, rework, in calm and serenity. I miss a little bit of everything. Yes, I was 3rd overall (before the Pokljuka stage, but today it’s 8th, editor’s note), but no one pays attention, because I can see I’m missing something in general races, like in Le Grand- Bornand. It’s up to me to find out what’s wrong inside to evolve,” confided Jacquelin after his disappointment.

Perrot rises in rank

On Thursday, a decision will be made by the staff of the French team about participation in Sunday’s mass start. Are present in the men’s relay on Friday and already excluded. To replace him individually, Eric Perrot was called. The 21-year-old biathlete, son of two former junior world champions (Franck Perrot and Tone Marit Oftedal) had taken part in the four Kontiolahti races (25th individual) at the start of the season, but only then at the start of the Hochfilzen sprint and Grand Bornand. Then he went back to the IBU Cup, the second division of the world biathlon, and won three races in Brezno in Slovakia. Emilien and Fabien Claude, Quentin Fillon Maillet, Antonin Guigonnat and Oscar Lombardot will be the other elements of the French men’s selection, for this stage from Ruhpolding where France is aiming for a first men’s victory this season.
