Russia. Vladimir Putin signed documents relating to the annexation of occupied Ukrainian regions
The whole procedure had just begun daytime earlier, when the Federation Council of Russia (SF) ratified the “treaties” of acceptance of the so-called People’s Republics of Donetsk and Luhansk (DPR and LPR respectively) which were not recognized by democracies. Additionally, SF has agreed to “adopt” membership in Ukraine Zaporizhia and Kherson regions. 153 of 200 senators took part in the vote – no one was against.
The whole procedure ended on Wednesday, October 5, with the introduction of amendments to the Russian Constitution and the signature of Vladimir Putin, annexing Ukrainian territories.

The ruble and the Russian language must be used in the occupied territories. Residents have one month to change nationality
On October 3, the State Duma approved bills under which six senators from the annexed territories of Ukraine will sit on the Federation Council. According to the adopted documents, after joining Russia, Ukrainian territories should retain the status of republics or regions and their current names. The official language will be Russian. The heads of the DPR, LPR, Zaporizhia and Kherson are also to be given the status of governors.
Residents of occupied areas are considered citizens of that area Russian from September 30. From then on, they have one month to apply for Russian nationality. The official currency in the new territories will be the Russian ruble, although the Ukrainian hryvnia will also be accepted until December 31, 2022.
Illegal connection by Russia The Ukrainian oblasts of Luhansk, Donetsk, Kherson and Zaporizhia took place at the end of September. A pseudo-referendum was organized in these regions, in which the inhabitants would have agreed to include these oblasts in Russia.
