According to the 2018 report prepared by Startup Poland, only 26% of Polish start-ups have a woman among the founders. The Perspektywy Education Foundation would like to change this – and its activities include the Shesnnovation Academy program – a start-up academy aimed at women (especially female students and graduates of STEM studies). To participate in a six-month series of workshops and meetings with mentors, all you need to do is have an idea that you would like to turn into a business. There’s little time left, as registration only lasts until November 15, and only the top 35 people qualify!
What will you learn at Shesnnovation Academy?
The workshops within the academy are primarily business courses – they include topics such as building a business model or preparing for talks with investors. The workshops address both technical skills, creative methodologies, but also elements of personal development or soft skills. Voluntary participants can also participate in the final pitch competition, which is associated with financial prizes. Mentors and mentors include: Piotr Hołubowicz – co-founder, CEO of start-up SEEDiA, Wiktoria Wójcik – co-founder and CSO inStreamly, and Katarzyna Majewska, board member of Citi Handlowy.
– The Shesnnovation program is constantly evolving, we try to ensure that each subsequent edition offers more and more new opportunities. This year, we have widened the scope of youth participation – high school students can already benefit from support – says Joanna Lisiecka, Program Director of Perspektywy Women in Tech. He adds that the program tries to combine science, technology and business environment. – At the career level, these environments overlap and are often synergistic. Interestingly, business and humanities graduates have also started tech companies – our program is also expanding, we are not limited to just the world of programming and technology he adds.
Companies like Magnetiqa, which also participated in the PFR School of Pioneers, emerged from the Shesnnovation program, Haptology, a ring-shaped tactile microcontroller that emits tactile sensations perceived with the inside of the user’s hand. user, or The Woof, a smart dog collar. We want to change the way pet owners take care of their pets by giving them tools to better understand them. The pitch competition will take place during the Perspektywy Women in Tech conference.
