Betar Sparta Wrocław announced a contract extension with Bartłomiej Kowalski some time ago. It has now been announced that team captain Maciej Janowski will also stay in Wrocław for 2023. ‘Magic’ was magically and very creatively announced.
Maciej Janowski is a pupil of the Wrocław club. After the departure of Tomasz Jędrzejak, he also became the captain of his local team. He has represented Sparta since 2007, with a two-year spell at Unia Tarnów. Recently, a year ago, he triumphed with his beloved club in the gold of the Polish Team Championship, but this season they failed to defend the title.
He also achieved the success of his life this year, winning a bronze medal in the Grand Prix cycle. “Magic” is certainly counting on the coveted gold of the Individual World Championship and a repeat of the animation of the PGE Ekstraliga.
– Does anyone even imagine our team without Maciej? No. He is our pupil, a real team leader, a great sporting personality and a long-time captain. We went through a lot with “Magic”. There have been many spectacular successes, and there have also been more difficult sporting moments. It is important that we have the same goal and we will strive to achieve it together. We want Betar Sparta Wrocław to return to the top after a slightly weaker season – says Andrzej Rusko, President of the Wrocław Sports Society.
A very creative way of announcing the contract was used by the club’s marketing and social media people. The captain’s announcement was presented as if by magic, as befits a magician.
