Starlink postpones the introduction of limits. When will they be introduced?

The limits announced last month in Starlink will take effect a little later than originally announced.

At the beginning of November, the network was in turmoil. The creators of Starlinka, considered one of the best options for the Internet anywhere, have announced that Eldorado will end in a few weeks and introduce a data download limit. Admittedly, this limit is not the smallest, since we are talking about 1TB. Apparently, because nowadays and with the weight of multimedia, endless streaming – it’s actually not much if c is to be our daily window to the world. The limits were due to come into effect in December, but as a little Christmas present, they have been postponed slightly.

Limits in Starlink will come into effect later. But don’t count on dramatic changes

Of course, it’s not like this that after exceeding the limit, the user is automatically cut off from network access. The fact is, however, that everything slows down so much that for many it will become unusable. Kamil wrote about the details related to the restrictions in their announcements:

As part of its “Fair Use” policy, Starlink will introduce from December a limit of 1 TB of data downloaded in the highest priority billing period (Priority Access). If a user exceeds this limit, and this only happens to 10% of subscribers currently, they will automatically be transferred to the so-called Basic Access which will result in much lower transfers. An additional 1TB of Priority Access data will be available for purchase, but that’s a $250 outlay, which is a hefty amount for a standard $110 subscription. The good news, however, is that only data downloaded during the day, from 7:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m., counts towards the limit. Transfers during night hours exceed the limit, so users who want to download larger files can do so at night.

For every extra gigabyte of transfer, you’ll have to pay extra – and it’s around 25 cents. When you think of one, two or five a month – there is no tragedy. But when it comes to hundreds of gigabytes, things aren’t so cheap anymore. But all users of the service should be prepared for the fact that from February next year they will have to reckon with the need to limit downloads – at least during the day. Because it is only between 11 p.m. and 7 a.m. that transfers will be unlimited. In this time window, Starlink users will be able to download whatever they want without worrying about transfers. While for entertainment or “catching up” probably enough for everyone, every day – for work or entertainment, this is a rather dubious option. Now, the only question is whether for those who really need internet everyday, wherever they are, will this 1TB be enough?
