Last year, Adidas signed a 5-year contract with the Polish Olympic Committee. This is a big change, as has been the case for many years for Polish athletes. was carried by local brand 4F. Already at that time, this information had sparked discussions, which intensified after the presentation of the Adidas uniforms. Fans do not like, among other things, a specific form of the Polska inscription on sweatshirts or a font resembling Comic Sans on volleyball players’ T-shirts. However, Radosław Piesiewicz, president of the Polish Olympic Committee, is not too concerned about these opinions.
“Personally, I’m delighted. This may be a very subjective opinion, but for me the most important thing is the opinion of our athletes. Thursday, I was in France for the official presentation of the collection and I saw that our athletes were delighted. This is the most important thing for me and it shows that we are going in the right direction,” he said in an interview with Sport.pl.
However, it is difficult for the president not to defend this collection, since Adidas financially supports the Polish Olympic Committee. And here we come behind the scenes of the choice of a German manufacturer instead of 4F.
“The 4F company was not a sponsor of the Polish Olympic Committee and Adidas is a sponsor of the Polish Olympic Committee. There was a question of who supported who” – said Piesiewicz.
Ask if “Business decides, not feelings,” he replied: “as always.”
According to information from Sport.pl, the 4F company will receive approximately 3.5 million PLN for the collection. “And Adidas didn’t so much finance the uniforms as pay money to the Polish Olympic Committee,” says Piesiewicz.
