Tennis: former player Martina Navratilova with double cancer

Martina Navratilova, 66, former WTA No. 1 who won 59 Grand Slam singles titles, has revealed she has breast and throat cancer.

YOUn “double blow”. Former tennis player Martina Navratilova announced on Monday, January 2, that she has double throat and breast cancer, which she is preparing to “fight with everything” she has, according to the WTA site. “This double blow is serious but still reversible,” said the 66-year-old former player, quoted by the WTA.

“I hope for a favorable outcome. It will stink for a while, but I will fight with everything I have,” says the former world number 1 with 59 Grand Slam titles (singles, doubles and mixed doubles combined), who already one breast cancer appeared in 2010.

Her on-field rival turned boyfriend, Chris Evert, revealed in January 2022 that she had ovarian cancer. She was declared in remission in May.
