The 303rd day of the war according to Michał and Jacek Fiszer. Why the railway is so important and how it can be crippled

To the east the Russians are trying to break through the front line, but elsewhere there is silence and it seems the aggressors are up to something. Taking advantage of this opportunity, we will tackle the underestimated subject of supplying the fighting armies, especially by rail.

The Russians have unfortunately managed to improve their supply, which is not good at all, because it would be better if they ran out of everything. The problem is that in stationary conditions it is easier to organize everything, and invaders get lost during dynamic maneuvers, while organizing supplies for troops changing their position quickly is much more difficult. It takes a lot of discipline and order, two things that happen to be foreign to Russians.

In the East, no (major) changes

For now, the hottest section remains around Bakhmut and Soledar. Prigozhin’s private army, known as the “Wagner Group”, was recently joined by the 31st Guards Ulyanovsk Air Assault Brigade, and it was with the forces of this brigade that the Russians took attempted to enter the city from the east. However, it does not seem that the Ukrainian troops defending there will allow the enemy airborne troops to succeed. Also at Soledar, another attempt to enter the town was halted after heavy fighting at close range, and the Lugansk People’s Republic 7th Motorized Rifle Brigade was forced to fall back to its starting positions.

The Wagner Group and the 3rd Guards Mechanized Brigade of the Donetsk People’s Republic attempted to break through the Ukrainian defenses also slightly south of Bakhmut, but with poor success. Most of the hail from Russian artillery shells falls in this area, making the cities look like a sea of ruins and it is safe to speak of a humanitarian disaster.
