About 20 boxes of documents were seized by the FBI during Monday’s searches at the Mar-a-Lago property. The leaked list shows that among them were 11 sets of documents marked with a confidentiality clause. Some of them were of the highest confidentiality, the viewing of which can only take place in specially secured government premises.
Investigation of violations of federal laws
The court’s search warrant also revealed that during the search request, the prosecutor’s office said it was investigating a potential violation of three different federal statutes. One is the collection, transfer or loss of military information under the Espionage Act. The remaining statutes deal with concealing or suppressing state documents and destroying, altering, or falsifying documents in federal proceedings.
Will Donald Trump file a complaint?
Earlier, Donald Trump had criticized the search of his property on Monday as a political act. The former president said the search was unnecessary because his attorneys were in talks with the Justice Department about documents he took from the White House.
At this time, it is unclear whether the search and seizure of classified documents from Donald Trump’s property will result in charges against the former president.
