Polish national team coach on fans
The world championships take place in the Netherlands and Poland. In Poland, matches are (will be) played in Gdańsk, Łódź and Gliwice. The Polish national team plays at Gdańsk-Sopot Ergo Arena. That’s where she probably beat Thailand (Tuesday) and South Korea (Wednesday) after 3:0.
Great White and Red in both encounters fans cheered.
– The atmosphere in the stands is great, fantastic. I can only compare it with what I saw in Brazil when I worked there for two years. People are full of emotions, volleyball is very important to them, they are lively. I really appreciate this passion and commitment, you don’t find them everywhere. I expected it in Brazil, but in Poland it’s still a kind of surprise for me. Northern Europe, a completely different world from hot Brazil, isn’t it? he said Polish national team coach Stefano Lavarini in an interview published on the website of the Polish Volleyball Federation. – People follow volleyball, have a lot of passion and support us. It’s really awesome. A few days ago I spoke to my brother who was watching our game on TV. He was very impressed and told me he envied me being able to feel it on my own skin. He couldn’t express it. It’s really nice, there are few places in the world like Poland. Such fans are not found everywhere. I hope we will enjoy this tournament together. These games, every day after that. And that the whole country will be proud of us, that we will give a lot of pleasure to the fans. We will try to go as far as possible in the championship.
The most important matches of the group
There are 24 national teams in the world championship, divided into four groups. The top four teams from each group will advance to the next phase.
Group A will merge with group D and group B will merge with group C, the first phase being marked. Then there will be the quarter-finals, the semi-finals, the match for third place and the final. This last match is scheduled for October 15 (Saturday).
Poland are in Group B. The most important and difficult matches await them after the group matches: with the Dominican Republic (Thursday) and Turkey (Saturday).
It started well with the Dominican Republic, it ended badly
On Wednesday, the Dominican Republic lost to Turkey 2:3. Poland were after three wins and were the only group B to have plenty of points. And it was Biało-Czerwony (in navy blue suits) who started the live.
The first set
2:0, then almost a point for a point and from 9:7 the Polish volleyball players came out at 14:7. The highest lead was at 18:8. They won 25:18.
The second set
Our girls led to the result 9: 8, then the rivals took a slight advantage. 10:12 a.m., 1:17 p.m. It’s time for Stefano Lavarini. It helped: first the Dominicans made a mistake, then Joanna Wołosz slightly broke through with both hands. 3:17 p.m. It could have been a draw, but the Polish team landed behind the pitch twice. Monika Fedusio entered the service and … showed an ace! 7:19 p.m. This time, place in the Dominican Republic. After two points lost (7:21 p.m.), the coach of the Polish national team again asked for a break. Magdalena Stysiak threw the block Dominikanek, the ball fell to the third meter. 8:21 p.m. Unable to take another step to improve the score. 8:23 p.m. 10:25 p.m.
The third set
5:4, 5:7. Olivia Różański blocked Geraldine Gonzalez at 7:7. 8:11. 12:15 p.m. Libero Maria Stenzel brilliantly kicked the ball off the dance floor and the action ended with Różański attacking. 2:16 p.m. Moments later, Stenzel was defending out of bounds, the ball returned to the Dominican side, their attack was stopped by Rożański. Rivals were close at hand – 4:17 p.m. and 8:21 p.m. The end, however, belonged to the Dominican sisters. 9:25 p.m.
Polish women have not yet found themselves in such a situation. They were losing 1:2, they had to chase.
The fourth set
2:0. After two attacks in a row from the center of Klaudia Alagierska-Szczepaniak 5:3. Then 6:6, 6:8. From a difficult position under the net Fedusio 7:8. The Poles regained the lead at 9 :8. In a moment, though, 9:11, 10:12. The tallest of the team, Stysiak and Agnieszka Korneluk, excellent on the boulder. 11:12 a.m. Later, unfortunately, the Dominicans had more game. 5:20 p.m., 7:23 p.m., 9:25 p.m.
