Every year more and more events take place at Druskininkai. The full list of current events can be found in the calendar, here we will list the most notable ones.
For years, at the beginning of February, the Winter Olympic festival called “Lteam” returns to Druskininkai. Competitions in biathlon, curling, hockey, climbing, skiing and cycling, tug of war and orienteering, night running and puzzle solving are organized on the slopes of the “Snow Arena” ski resort and in town. The most extreme part of the competition is kayaking in the snow. A dizzying descent along a snow-covered mountain route ends with a jump into a pool of icy water…
April is the month of daffodils. Thanks to the blooming of the entire field of flowers, an open-air event takes place with street theater scenes, elements of poetry and music. Along with this event, the “Bukhara” restaurant organizes international competitions for preparing the best pilaf.
An international cycling marathon takes place in mid-May and the last weekend of May is celebrated with the opening festival of the season, i.e. Druskininkai Days. Every year, the highlight of this festival is a masquerade and a nighttime show of lights and fire. For the next three days, the city turns into a big stage for concerts, fairs and various shows.
In summer, cultural events follow one another. There are music and theater festivals, a cake tournament, outdoor workshops for artists and sculptors, a folk festival and a cheese festival. On the first weekend of August, the city is teeming with participants in the International Dog Show, which attracts dog lovers from all over the world.
At the end of September, International Tourism Day is celebrated, a treat for those looking for discounts and special offers. The year ends with a series of Christmas and New Year events.
There is an open-air cinema on the entertainment square (Pl. Pramogų) throughout the summer season. The films are shown in their original language, with Lithuanian subtitles.
