On Saturday, the second congress of the PiS Academy took place. At the party headquarters, parliamentarians, local government officials and members of the youth wing listened to a lecture on the consequences of the Second World War and an analysis of the round table, which was conducted by prof. Wojciech Roszkowski.
Teacher. Kornat on the consequences of the Second World War for Poland
Krzysztof Szczucki, director of the Academy, told PAP that on Saturday, among the guests was Professor Marek Kornat of Cardinal Stefan Wyszyński University, a specialist in the history of international relations.
The professor spoke about the consequences of the Second World War for Poland, but with a broad reference to the present day
Szczucki said. The topics of the Yalta conference and the much older agreement with Rappalo were discussed in close cooperation between Germany and Russia.
The professor pointed out that what happened in Poland at that time was not his fault, but was a decision of the powers that decided the fate of Poland without Poland.

Teacher. Roszkowski with Round Table analysis
The second guest was Professor Wojciech Roszkowski, who is the author of the textbook “History and Present”.
The professor proceeded to an analysis of the Round Table, its origins, its unfolding and its consequences, but in a less obvious way, because he tried to point out its positive aspects, but also its negative aspects, e.g. emphasizing the need, on the side of Solidarity, to apply the decisions of the round table for too long, when it was no longer necessary – especially after the collapse of the Polish United Workers’ Party
Szczucki told PAP.
The professor showed the consequences of some decisions of round tables that lasted quite a long time, and some of them are still ongoing today, such as the situation in the judicial system
he said.
Guests will be Macierewicz and Parys
The next guests of the PiS Academy in December will be a former opponent of the Polish People’s Republic, Chief Marshal Antoni Macierewicz, who is due to speak about the activities of the Workers’ Defense Committee and Jan Parys, former head of the Ministry of National Defense in the government of Jan Olszewski.
A living think tank
The PiS Academy is aimed at party parliamentarians, representatives of the PiS Youth Forum, as well as local governments.
In this way, an internal system of education, debate and formation of a political idea is created. A living think tank, created by those who will later implement the programs we have developed
– Szczucki told PAP announcing the Academy’s first congress.
Therefore, we will devote a lot of time to the debates; we will encourage Academy participants to discuss, ask questions and make critical remarks
– added.
The lectures within the framework of the PiS Academy have been grouped into three blocks: “Where do we come from?”, “Where are we going?” and the third, concerning legal issues. Meetings will be held once a month until June next year.
