The Odpoczno quartet is made up of artists from different musical worlds, hence the extraordinary singularity of their common work. In their production you can hear threads of traditional music, passing through jazz, improvised music, alternative rock and experimental electronics.
Musicians: Joanna Szczęsnowicz (vocals, keyboards), Marek Kądziela (guitar), Piotr Gwadera (drums) and Marcin Lorenc (violin) were linked by the traditional music of the Opoczno region.
The music they play goes deep into the roots, but you can also hear the sounds of the modern world. Guitar improvisations or rhythms hit by drums, mixed with the characteristic triple pulsation of Polish folk music, also point to the best motifs straight out of alternative music, hip hop or krautrock.
Rest is certainly a new dimension of traditional music. He has his own unique style, he is not afraid of experiments, for which he has repeatedly been appreciated. The team includes winner of the Polish radio folk music competition “Nowa Tradycja”. He has participated in many major festivals, such as Off Festival, Jazz on the Oder, Globaltica and the Two Brzegi Festival. Their debut album was hailed as the music event of 2018 and in the same year Odpoczno was also the sole official representative of the Polish scene at the Womex music fair.
The EtnoNurty concert will take place on Saturday (17.12), at 6.00 p.m. in Spodek of the Podlaski Institute of Culture in Bialystok. Tickets costing 40 PLN can be purchased online on the PIK website, as well as at the Spodek box office.
