FIFA has asked the Tunisian Football Federation for an explanation about a possible case of interference. Tunisians can be excluded from the World Cup.
Tunisia was ultimately unable to make the trip to Qatar. Less than a month before the match, FIFA asked the Tunisian Football Federation by mail for details of a possible instance of interference within the entity.
Youth and Sports Minister Kamel Deguiche has threatened to replace the leaders of the Tunisian Football Federation. A possible interference that FIFA does not accept.
“It has been brought to our attention that the state authorities seem to want to interfere in the affairs of the Tunisian Football Federation, in particular by considering the dissolution of the Federal Office of the FTF. In this regard, we would like to remind you that FIFA member associations are legally bound to conduct their affairs independently and without undue influence from third parties.‘, we can read in a letter dated October 24 to the president of the Tunisian Football Federation, Wadii Jarii.

Italy remains hopeful
FIFA has given Tunisia a few days to explain itself, but nothing seems to be happening in this case for the time being. Neither side can calm things down. Tunisia could therefore be sanctioned and not make the trip to Qatar. If this decision is made, the first team in the international rankings not to qualify for the World Cup will be fielded, so Italy could take the place.
