Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan took part in the voting for the “Photos of the Year 2022” competition organized by Anadolu Agency, choosing a photo of the Atlas Lions taken during the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.
The competition involves a series of photos taken by AA photojournalists and correspondents illustrating the year’s major events impacting Turkish and world news, which are divided into three categories: “news”, “sports” and “environment and life” . .

In the sports category, the Turkish president voted for Salih Zeki Fazlioglu’s photo titled “Sajdah of Shukr”. In this photo, the Atlas Lions bow in gratitude after knocking out Spain in a penalty shootout to clinch their historic qualification for the quarter-finals of the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.

Recep Tayyip Erdogan expressed his support for the Moroccan team during the tournament.
