War reparations from Germany. Deputy Head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs: We will carry out a diplomatic offensive – Polish editorial staff

– The topic of reparations owed to Poland by Germany is currently being discussed at every meeting with any representative of the German side, as well as during talks with our European partners – Jabłoński informed in an interview with PAP. – These interviews are conducted at all possible diplomatic levels, both at the level of the President and in meetings with government officials, politicians from opposition parties in Germany, representatives of civil society, non-governmental organizations and media – the deputy head of Polish Diplomacy listed.

– We will conduct a diplomatic offensive, inform about reparations, explain the legal and factual situation, because many countries, as well as public opinion in Europe and around the world, do not know that Poland has never received compensation for this most terrible crime of the 20th century, what the Second World War looked like – he added.

Diplomatic Note on Reparations

Deputy head of the Foreign Ministry Szymon Szynkowski vel Sęk told PAP that a number of activities are already underway, including interviews and texts by the prime minister in the media, including German ones.

Last Monday, the head of the Foreign Ministry, Zbigniew Rau, signed a diplomatic note on reparations. On September 1, a report on the losses suffered by Poland as a result of German aggression and occupation during World War II was presented. Losses were estimated at PLN 6 trillion 220 billion 609 million.

On Tuesday, German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock, who met Minister Rau in Warsaw that day, said the issue of war reparations from the federal government’s perspective was closed.
