What internet is available in your area? The government knows the answer

The government website internet.gov.pl was launched, containing a free database with information on internet availability throughout Poland. It will be possible to check on the map which operator provides its services to the building.

On January 1, it was fully operational government project SIDUSIS, ie the Information System on Access to Fixed Broadband Internet Services. When entering the page internet.gov.pl and using the interactive map available there, you can check which operators operate in the area and what internet they offer in selected buildings.

As the government has informed, the period for uploading and updating data in the SIDUSIS system has ended. The system itself was launched in early December so that telecom operators had time to do it feeding and updating the database with information on the addresses of the buildings where it is possible to provide fixed broadband Internet. Operators have keep this information up to date.

The reporting obligation is enshrined in law. It assumes that operators with less than 50,000 address points in range must update their data once a month. The biggest players are forced to do this once a week, every Friday. However, the first update will take place on January 9 and 10.

What does the internet card on internet.gov.pl give you?

The SIDUSIS system brings several advantages. First of all, residents of apartment buildings all over Poland can check their range. After accessing the website and entering the address, a map will be displayed. you have to enlarge it Markers have appeared on buildings blue dots when there is internet and white when there are no offers.

SIDUSIS

When you click on a marker, it opens list with operator names. By expanding the selected element, you can find out, among other things, what is the transmission medium (for example, copper cable, optical fiber), what is the maximum throughputwhat type of service (retail, wholesale), in many cases the contact details or even the website address of the operator with the offer are provided.

The system also includes information if there is one in a given building real or theoretical range. In the first case, the Internet connection may take place immediately, while in the second case it may be necessary to obtain, for example, additional consents, or the connection will involve significant costs.

From June 2023 it will also be possible to check whether operators will make investments in a given area related to Internet access. This information may be useful for people who are planning to build or buy a house or apartment and need high-speed Internet access.

Thanks to the SIDUSIS system, you can also verify the accuracy of the data provided on the card. If they raise doubts and do not correspond to reality, each resident can submit a verification request to the system.

In addition, SIDUSIS also allows notification of the need for broadband internet in the property where these services can be provided. The system allows you to send a notification that will automatically go to the selected operator or to all operators that offer services in a given location. Submitting a request is treated as marketing consent and allows you to indicate the method of contacting the requester.

The government system also allows marking of vacanciesthat is, buildings where, neither now nor in the future, it will not be necessary to provide an Internet access infrastructure.
