Trefl Gdańsk defeated the Polish U-14 team 2:0 (25:23, 25:16) in the last game of the 36th Wola Cup 2022. 25:23, 25:21).
The “Wola Cup” is one of the most popular youth volleyball tournaments in Europe. The tournament is organized in cooperation with the Sports Office of the capital Warsaw, supported by MOS Wola, OSiR Wola, PZPS and parents. The event itself is also included in the events calendar of the Polish Volleyball Association.
The youth category tournament (14 years old) was held in the “Koło” hall of OSiR Wola from November 18 to 20. The mini volleyball competition (12 years old) is scheduled for November 25-27.
The history of this tournament dates back to 1980. Since then, 62 foreign clubs from 17 countries and hundreds of teams from all over Poland have participated. The following world champions participated in the “Wola Cup” as young boys: Pawel Zagumny, Fabian Drzyzga, Karol Klos, Damian Wojtaszek and well-known representatives of Poland: Pawel Papke, Grzegorz Wagnerrepresentative of Germany Bjorn Andrae and Olympic Games participants who studied volleyball at UMKS MOS Wola: Arkadiusz Golas, Zbigniew Bartman, Grzegorz Łomacz or the already mentioned Fabian Drzyzga.
