Any shipment of US Patriot systems to Ukraine could “lead to unforeseeable consequences” and threaten global security, the Russian Embassy in Washington said in a statement on Wednesday.

In turn, a Kremlin spokesman warned that if American Patriot systems are sent to Ukraine, they will become a target for Russia. The former president of Russia spoke in a similar tone. Dmitry Medvedev has threatened on social media that if Jens Stoltenberg supplies Kyiv fanatics with Patriot defense systems – as well as NATO personnel – they will immediately become legitimate targets for the Russian armed forces.

Zelensky on threats from Russia

In the opinion of Volodymyr Zelensky, the warnings of Russian politicians are frivolous to say the least. “The threats made by some of their leaders regarding the presence of patriots on our lands are ridiculous. I think it’s the alcohol in the body of some of these officials who very often formulate something not sober and threaten someone – he said Volodymyr Zelensky.

The President of Ukraine did not specify who exactly he meant. When asked if he was referring to a politician whose name begins with the letter “M” (probably Dmitry Medvedev), he replied that “there is such a possibility”. “I think if something hasn’t happened for so long, we can forget about it,” he concluded.
