Good news for fans of the series The world according to the Kiepskis. Although the record-breaking sitcom finally ended after 31 seasons in November last year, the title returned with a special episode in which the iconic duo Marian Paździoch and Arnold Boczek once again appeared on screen.
Episode titled Eternal quarantine arouses controversy due to its unusual form of implementation. Deepfake technology, an image processing method based on artificial intelligence, was used to prepare the scenes with Dariusz Gnatowski, who died in 2020, and Ryszard Kotys (died in January 2021). The program uses a series of photos showing a person’s face and then replaces it in any video material. More images from the right angle achieve near-perfect image reproduction. As a result, creators can create shots and entire scenes with dead actors.
An unusual episode returns to the emblematic building of Wrocław. Ferdek and Zofia Strzygoń remember their former neighbors when the conversation unexpectedly changes direction and the topic becomes coronavirus vaccines. Soon, the head of the Kiepski family will meet the ghosts of Arnold and Marian, who will return with the idea of ending the home quarantine.
