PW in jump. Granerud among the three best Norwegian players in history

Comparing their achievements is a bit difficult, because the history of ski jumping can be divided into two eras, before the World Cup and since the start of this competition in the 1979/80 season. In the latter, Halvor with 20 individual World Cup victories is by far the best Norwegian jumper in our history. Before the World Cup it was Wirkola and Ruud – rated the head of the Norwegian ski jump Clas Brede Brathen.

Bjoern Wirkola won two individual gold medals at the World Championships from 1966 to Oslo and won the 4-Hills-Tournament three times in a row from 1966 to 1969. Birger Ruud, considered the best jumper in the world before World War II, won two Olympic gold medals, in Lake Placid (1932) and Garmisch-Partenkirchen (1936), and three world championship gold medals in 1931, 1935 and 1937.

To become Norway’s all-time ski jumper, Halvor would still have to win individual gold medals at the World Championships and Winter Olympics and win the World Cup overall, but as you can see, he is on a very good track to achieve these goals brother added.
